Delivering Rural Emergency Care

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) https://www.dhs.gov within the Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) established the Rural Emergency Medical Communications Demonstration Project (REMCDP), with a $2 million competitive grant program. DHS selected the applications based on innovation, impact on rural communities, interoperability, communications, and stakeholder engagement. (more…)

VA Awards Contracts for CCNs

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), https://www.va.gov awarded contracts to develop regional networks to assist high performing licensed healthcare providers. The new regional networks referred to as Community Care Networks (CCN) will work with VA providers and practitioners to provide medical dental and pharmacy services to eligible veterans who are unable to receive care at local VA medical centers. The CCNs will improve customer service, accountability, health information exchange, referrals and scheduling, and provider payments. (more…)

HRSA Posts Grant Notice

On December 27, 2018, HRSA https://www.hrsa.gov within HHS posted the grant notice “Rural Health and Economic Development Analysis” (HRSA-19-065) with estimated program funding for $225,000. The goal is to increase stakeholder awareness of the economic impacts of rural healthcare sectors on rural, state, and national economies as well as the relationship between community economic development and health outcomes for rural residents.
