MedTech Accelerator to Launch
Rochester, Minnesota based Mayo Clinic https://www.mayoclinic.org and Tempe-based Arizona State University (ASU) https://www.asu.edu are collaborating to launch a medical technology accelerator especially designed for medical device and healthcare technology companies.
The “MedTech Accelerator” https://www.medtechaccel.com is accepting applications up to February 29, 2019 as the program will launch April 22 to May 3, 2019 in Scottsdale Arizona, however, the remaining components of the accelerator program can be done remotely
The program is designed to help companies look to take their ideas to the next level. Participants will receive personalized business development plans to use to collaborate with Mayo Clinic and ASU.
Mayo Clinic and ASU want to see the “MedTech Accelerator” produce investment opportunities for medical device startups. The program is open to early stage medical device startups that have at least $500,000 in seed capital. If companies meet the requirements and are selected, they will pay $50,000 to begin the program.
Rick Hall, Director of Health Innovation at ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation https://nursingandhealth.asu.edu and the Accelerator’s Co-Managing Partner, reports, “The number of patents, the amount of funding to startups through ASUs Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program and Skysong Innovation https://www.skysonginnovations.com, which is ASU’s exclusive technology transfer organization, produced 285 inventions in 2018.”
