RERC Program Seeks Tech

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) part of the Administration for Community Living within HHS https://acl.gov, seeks innovative technologies designed to solve particular rehabilitation problems or to remove environmental barriers for individuals with disabilities.

The RERC program dealing with Information and Communication Technologies Access, released three grant forecast notices on December 21, 2018 with each grant to be funded with estimated program funding of $925,000.

Information on the three grant forecast notices includes the following:

  • The first grant notice “RERC Program: RERC on Information and Communication Technologies Access” is to improve service and develop innovative technologies to help the disabled. This grant notice is expected to be posted on January 25, 2019 with applications due March 25, 2019.

 

  • The second grant notice “RERC on Technology to Enhance Independence and Community Living for People with Cognitive Impairments.” seeks to perform research and development for technologies to improve and help adults with cognitive impairment to perform daily activities in the home, community, or workplace. This grant notice is expected to be posted March 1, 2019 with applications due April 30, 2019.

 

  • The third grant notice “RERC on “Technology for People who are Dear of Hard of Hearing” hopefully will lead to innovative technological solutions and strategies to improve the accessibility, usability, and performance of technologies along with training opportunities designed to benefit people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The grant notice is expected to be posted March 1, 2019 with applications due April 30, 2019.
