Trade Mission Headed to Turkey 2014
The Department of Commerce through their International Trade Administration is organizing an U.S Turkey Healthcare Trade Mission to Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir on May 4-8, 2014. America’s Rural Health Reality
Tom Morris, Associate Administrator for HRSA’s Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) at HHS, described the health challenges existing in rural America at the Alliance for Health Care Reform Briefing held July 26th in Washington D.C. He reported that over 50 million people live in rural areas and make up nearly 20 percent of the total population spread across 80 percent of the country. Rural residents tend to be older, sicker, and more dependent on public payers. (more…)
Telemedicine-Based Eye Exams
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) provide access to primary care for medically underserved populations including those that are uninsured or covered by Medicaid. One program was initiated to improve access to specialty care in FQHCs by using telemedicine for eye exams. (more…)

Palomar Health located in Northern San Diego County and Qualcomm Life, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc. has launched Glassomics, an incubator to explore the application of a wearable computing medicine.
