European Scientists Study the Brain
According to researchers, 165 million Europeans are likely to experience some form of brain-related disease during their lifetime. Finding better ways of preventing and treating brain diseases is becoming urgent. RFP Issued for Dual Eligible Project
The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) is developing a demonstration in the state to strengthen services and support for individuals who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. The services and supports for the dually eligible will be delivered by newly created Integrated Care Organization (ICO) and by currently existing Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHP). (more…)
HRSA Awards Grants
HRSA has awarded grants to rural health organizations in eight states in the Delta region to address chronic diseases that disproportionately affect the region. Nearly $5.4 million will be used to improve outcomes in the prevention and care of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. (more…)
SAMHSA to Award IOM Contract
SAMHSA’s Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality within HHS published a Notice of Intent on August 6th at www.fbo.gov announcing that a contract would be awarded to the Institute of Medicine (IOM). The funding would support a report on “Stage 3 MU Domains and Data Standards Determinants of Health to focus on factors influencing substance abuse risk and prognosis. (more…)

HHS Strategy for Accelerating HIEs
HHS released their new strategy for accelerating health information exchange to support delivery and payment. Previously ONC and CMS released a Request for Information (RFI) on how HHS can advance interoperability and exchange. Over 200 RFI submissions from providers, payers, state-based associations and organization, and consumers were submitted. (more…)
