He appeared before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Health, to present his ideas at the “Telehealth to Digital Medicine: How 21st Century Technology Can Benefit Patients” hearing held May 1, 2014 on Capitol Hill. Georgia Receives Grant Funding

In March 2014, CMS awarded planning grants to qualified states to test quality measurement tools and to demonstrate e-health in the Medicaid community. The demonstration grant program known as “Testing Experience and Functional Assessment Tools (TEFT) in Medicaid Community-Based Long-Term Services and Supports” awarded $45 million to 10 qualified state applicants. Wisconsin’s RFI & Grant Awards

Wisconsin’s Division of Long Term Care & Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services within the Department of Health (DHS) on May 2, 2014 issued a Request for Information (RFI). Today, DHS facilities span across seven locations with 4,000 potential end users, 8 to 10 statewide managed care organizations, along with 20-30 area hospitals and clinics with access to the EHR system and related data. Telemedicine Venture Summit at ATA 2014

The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and the law firm of Jones Day are conducting the ATA 2014 Telemedicine Venture Summit on May 18 in conjunction with the ATA 2014 Annual Meeting and Trade Show to take place May 17-20, 2014 in Baltimore. NIH to Jump Start Genomic Medicine

NIH clinical researchers will be using genomic data in many areas of clinical research in the coming decade, according to Michael M. Gottesman, M.D., Deputy Director for Intramural Research at NIH. Just a handful of hospital systems in the U.S have begun to use genome sequencing in clinical care so NIH clinical investigators are planning to be on the vanguard of clinical genomics. (more…)
