Test Strips to Diagnose TBI
For years, diabetics have been using a tiny drop of blood from a finger prick to accurately detect blood sugar glucose levels. Researchers at West Virginia University (WVU) www.wvu.edu funded by the National Institute Neurological Disorders and Stroke www.ninds.nih.gov are developing a similar device to diagnose two very different types of problems such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and secondly to determine if there are heavy metals in water supplies. CMS: ACO Investment Model Initiative

The Kentucky Health Information Exchange (KHIE) www.khie.ky.gov recently unveiled a new tool to help patients access their personal medical records and information via the internet. The patient portal called “myhealthnow” www.myhealthnow/Pages/default.aspx is a central online resource for patients to access and store medical records and personal health information. Today, more than 60,000 patients at 350 medical centers worldwide have been treated with ECMO.
