Williams J.D., M.P.A, Policy Analyst in the ONC Office of Policy and Planning. Future Possible RFPs
A session held at FDA’s Sentinel Initiative Public Workshop held in Washington D.C. on January 9th, discussed what is ahead for the “Innovation in Medical Evidence Development and Surveillance” program or referred to as the IMEDS-Methods program which operates within the Reagan-Udall Foundation (RUF). Breakthrough Technology Study

On January 17th, NIH, CDC, FDA, and ACF issued PHS 2014-02 Funding Opportunity Announcement (PA-14-071) for Small Business Innovation Research Grants (SBIR) along with a funding announcement for the Small Technology Transfer Research (STTR) program. Alere HomeLink has been granted 510(k) market clearance by FDA for over the counter use for glucose meters, blood pressure monitors, weight scales, and pulse oximeters. Bills Introduced on Capitol Hill
On January 15, 2014, The “Better Care, Lower Cost Act of 2014” was introduced to remove the barriers that prevent Medicare providers from building on existing successful delivery models and provides a framework to encourage innovative chronic care delivery across the country.
