SHAPE Implemented In Oregon

A western Colorado Payment reform initiative supporting integrated behavioral health in primary care settings will soon expand to Oregon. Colorado’s global payment model for primary care and behavioral health integration “Sustaining Healthcare Across Integrated Primary Care Efforts” or SHAPE, is being implemented in Bend, Oregon and surrounding counties. Trauma Center in a Backpack

The Navy finds providing trauma care for Marines and sailors deployed in remote locations to be a daunting challenge. When a person suffers major trauma such as a shrapnel wound, serious head injury or a severe burn, it is important to have rapid access to high level medical care. However, Navy and Marine Corps personnel often suffer these types of injuries in places where such care may be many hours away. (more…)

Bill Introduced in the House

On June 14th, Representative Michael G. Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania introduced the “Medicare Residential Care Coordination Act of 2013” (H.R. 2376) to implement a ten year demonstration project. The demonstration would provide payments for comprehensive coordinated healthcare services for Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) for Medicare beneficiaries. The states would be involved but only if a state elects to participate in the demonstration project. (more…)
