Scientists at Stanford and UC-San Francisco (UCSF) are going to collaborate at a new center to spur innovative approaches in drug development. The partnership was launched with grant funding of $3.3 million from FDA. Grants to Support Vaccinations
On June 5, 2014, Pfizer and the International Society of Infectious Disease (ISID) announced a new grant opportunity to help provide adult immunization in low and middle income countries. The grant program referred to as the Pfizer “Independent Grants for Learning & Change” (IGL&C) will help improve adult access and use of vaccinations in places where there is the greatest need. $7 Million to Care for Emergency Patients
The demand for emergency care has risen 24 percent in five years. The number of patients admitted to the University of Michigan (U-M) ICUs from the emergency department has risen ten percent a year for at the last five years and the time patients have to wait for an ICU bed is growing longer. DARPA Launches BTO
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has created a new division called the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) to explore the increasingly dynamic intersection of biology and physical sciences. This new office is merging biology, engineering, and computer science to harness the power of natural systems for national security.
