EHRs in Underserved Areas
Physician practices especially those in medically underserved areas, face multiple barriers to adopting and using EHRs due to financial burdens and the lack of IT resources and expertise. EHRs are particularly valuable in underserved areas because they can flag much needed services to prevent illnesses, make records more accurate, and be easily shared among providers. (more…)
Upgrading & Funding Technology
U.S Senators Jay Rockefeller, Joe Manchin, and Congressman Nick Rahall recently announced a multi-million dollar federal award to help expand broadband infrastructure and high-speed internet access to at least 40,000 rural homes and businesses in West Virginia. (more…)
Delta Region Receives Funding
USDA Rural Development’s Delta Health Care Services Grant Program recently awarded funding. The grant program provides financial assistance to address the continued unmet health needs in the Delta region. Since 2009, USDA has supported ten projects with almost $6 million available through the grant program. (more…)
Software Helps with UDI
The new FDA rule requires that a label with the device package must be submitted for each medical device and must include a Unique Device Identification (UDI). The UDI must be in plain text and in a form that uses Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) technology to automatically identify objects. (more…)
HRSA Releases Funding Notice
HRSA’s Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) has released a funding notice on the FY 2014 “Rural Health Network Development Grant Program” (RHND). The grant funding supports rural integrated healthcare networks with a history of collaboration. This is important so that networks are able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships to integrate systems of care administratively, clinically, and financially. (more…)
