HRSA Awards $165 Million

HHS through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) https://www.hrsa.gov has awarded nearly $165 million to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic in rural communities. The funding will support 1,779 small rural hospitals and provide additional funding to 14 HRSA funded Telehealth Resource Centers (TRC). The plan is to provide additional technical assistance on using telehealth in rural and underserved areas to help combat COVID-19. (more…)

Ohio Hospital Expands Telehealth

The use of telehealth services is rapidly expanding at Nationwide Children’s Hospital https://www.nationwidechildrens.org located in Ohio, to quickly adapt the way care is delivered in response to COVID-19. Tim Robinson, CEO, Nationwide Children’s reports, “We had to adapt quickly and we were able to effectively implement our expanded telehealth services. Even after COVID-19 is behind us, it will be important to continue to innovate and provide much needed telehealth services.” (more…)

LADHS CIO Hosted at Meeting

Credit Suisse https://www.credit-suisse.com hosted Jim Brady, CIO at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (LADHS) http://dhs.lacounty.gov/wps/portal/dhs for a virtual meeting with a small group of investors. LADHS is the second largest municipal health system in the U.S., with an integrated system of 19 health centers and four hospitals, annually cares for about 600K patients, employs over 26K staff, and has an annual budget of $6 billion. FCC’s New Telehealth Program

On April 2, 2020, the FCC established their “COVID-19 Telehealth Program” to provide $200 million to help eligible healthcare providers respond to the pandemic by funding telecommunications services, information services, and devices to provide critical connected care services until the pandemic has ended.
