The VA https://www.va.gov is working with pharmacy services at Walgreens to coordinate patient and pharmaceutical care for VA-enrolled patients. With a click of a button, VA providers will be able to see the entire medication and immunization history for VA-enrolled patients who receive their prescriptions and immunization needs at Walgreens.
The VA is actively refining the ability to track medications prescribed by community providers. Now VA providers will be able to view medications directly that are prescribed to VA enrolled patients by community providers and filled at Walgreens pharmacies.
Also, Walgreens program “Find Care Now” a digital platform helps connect millions of mobile and online visitors to healthcare services at Walgreens stores https://www.walgreens.com/findcarenow/services. The company is working closely with a list of 17 participating providers as part of this effort.
The “Find Care Now” program makes it easier for customers to navigate and search for local and digital healthcare services in markets as varied as neighborhood healthcare clinics, urgent care centers via telehealth, labs for testing, obtain second opinions, plus finding optical and hearing services in certain markets.
The “Find Care Now” marketplace specifically includes leaders in healthcare such as:
- MDLIVE, national telehealth service
- MedExpress urgent care, an Optum company and provider of neighborhood medical care
- NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia University
- LabCorp, lab testing and diagnostics
- DermatologistOnCall, a national online service
The “Find Care Now” program offer services that are sensible alternatives to emergency room visits. These services include going to see physicians or nurse practitioners at urgent care centers co-located at Walgreens drugstores or at Walgreens stores that have healthcare clinics or other retail clinic services. Other specialist offerings include behavioral health therapists, optometrists, dermatologists, hearing care professionals, and diagnostic lab services in specific markets.
