The Wagner Foundation http://www.wfound.org, a private Boston-based foundation has awarded Partners in Health (PIH) https://www.phi.org, an international medical charity, a grant for $15 million. The funding will go toward establishing new healthcare programs.
The award represents the largest donation to any entity in Wagner Foundation’s history and will enable PIH to launch a groundbreaking initiative to improve the health of impoverished people, especially women and children in ten countries worldwide.
These programs include expanding PIH initiatives aimed at ending maternal deaths in childbirth and pioneering more uses for data. The program will support high tech healthcare data collection, analysis, and decision-making in health facilities in remote Liberia.
By supporting data infrastructure and expertise, PIH and the Wagner Foundation are eager to show that long term investments in public healthcare systems, not just disaster or emergency responses are most likely to produce the best outcomes for patients, families, and communities.
