5,000 Patients Enrolled in eyeGENE

Over the past several decades researchers have identified hundreds of genes that contribute to inherited eye diseases. Today, it is possible to provide genetic testing for patients diagnosed with genetic ocular diseases by analyzing some of these genes. Disease-causing mutations are associated with many ocular diseases, including glaucoma, cataracts, strabismus, corneal dystrophies, and a number of retinal degenerations. (more…)

FDA Approves Screening Tests

According to CDC, approximately 40 to 100 new cases of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency or (SCID) are identified in newborns in the U.S. each year. SCID is a group of disorders caused by defects in genes involved in the development and function of T cells and other infection-fighting immune cells. (more…)
