Vivo Health Pharmacy https://www.vivohealthpharmacy.com has launched their prescription medication mail order program to serve more than 66,000 eligible employees who work for Northwell Health https://www.northwell.edu which is New York State’s largest private employer.
Vivo Health a specialty pharmacy providing services at many Northwell hospitals and ambulatory facilities along with operating a 24 hour clinical call center, will enable the Northwell-owned pharmacy to start providing prescription coverage for employees in eligible medical insurance plans as of August 1, 2018.
Northwell Health is replacing existing provider Express Scripts as part of an effort to streamline costs and the delivery of medication in order to do a better job of managing chronic diseases such as arthritis, asthma, and diabetes as well as serve any acute care needs.
Vivo Health’s new 15,000 square foot fulfillment facility in Great Neck was designed with efficiency in mind. Custom software, productivity workflows, smart shipping solutions, and two pharmacy robots capable of automatically and accurately prepare more than 340 types of medications will help Vivo Health fulfill an estimated 50 prescriptions per day to start.
According to Mark Solazzo Executive Vice President and CEO at Northwell, “By using robotic pharmacy technology and automated shipping services, we will be able to offer the same high level of mail order prescription services to our own 66,000 employees at a savings of $12 million a year.”
