The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) www.oregon.gov/OHA has been working to bring the original “Action Plan developed by both OHA and the Oregon Health Policy Board (OHPB) www.oregon.gov/oha/OHPB outlines key actions that OHA will take over the next two years to support the vision articulated by OHPB.
The Health Information Technology Oversight Council (HITOC) coordinates Oregon’s public and private statewide efforts in EHR adoption and the development of a statewide system for electronic health information exchange. HITOC also has the responsibility to help Oregon meet federal requirements.
To start developing the “2017 Action Plan”, OHPB enlisted HITOC to set goals and develop a strategic health information technology plan for the state. HITOC is overseeing the implementation of the plan and will report on progress to OHPB.
One of Oregon’s strategies in developing a future plan for action, is to improve care coordination by working across healthcare sectors to plan for future requirements for the use of technology, as well as develop system-level support, and work with multiple workgroups and councils to effectively improve coordinated care.
Care coordination in the state will focus on integrated oral, behavioral, and physical healthcare, health IT and HIE support, improve the Coordinated Care Model (CCM), and but also concentrate on person-centered primary care.
In other actions, the Behavioral Health Collaborative (BHC) was convened by OHA in 2016 with five workgroups. These workgroups were involved in governance and finance, standards of care, workforce issues, peer-delivered services, information exchange, coordination of care, and how to improve data relating to the integration of behavioral and physical healthcare.
