FDA Clears New Stethoscope

FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for the Tyto Care www.tytocare.com stethoscope, a device that will be part of the company’s advanced set of examination tools being used during comprehensive remote exams. The stethoscope enables Tyto Care to use digital tools to exam ears, throat, skin, heart, lungs, and temperature, and utilize a cloud-based platform with video conferencing.

The company has introduced two new products. The first is TytoPro™ enabling clinicians to capture and share remote examination data, conduct a specialist consultation, or get a second opinion. The second product is TytoHome™ which connects consumers to clinicians for a comprehensive medical exam and a remote telehealth visit available 24/7.

“By enabling a physical exam that virtually replicates an in-person visit, the technology helps school-based clinics, nurses, home health providers, patients, and family caregivers connect and share medical information,” commented Karen S. Rheuban, MD, Pediatric Cardiologist, Director of the University of Virginia’s Karen S. Rheuban Center for Telehealth https://uvahealth.com and Chair of Tyto Care’s Advisory Board.

The company was founded by Dedi Gilad, Ofer Tzadik and other industry experts in 2012. The company has received over $18 million in funding from investors including Cambia Health Solutions, Walgreens, Orbimed and Forsun Pharma.
