On November 2, 2016, HRSA www.hrsa.gov posted the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) HRSA-17-016 “Rural Health Network Development Planning Program” (Network Planning) with the closing date for applications to be January 03, 2017. The estimated program funding is to be $2,400,000.
The purpose for the Network Planning FOA is to help develop an integrated healthcare network. Developing the Network would help smaller rural healthcare providers and healthcare service organizations align their resources and strategies to work as a group than as single providers.
The healthcare system is undergoing a significant amount of change and this is particularly challenging for small rural providers as they move from focusing on the volume of services to focusing on the value of services.
Eligible applicant organizations must be a rural nonprofit or rural public entity representing a consortium and/or network of three or more healthcare providers. Federally recognized tribal entities are eligible to apply as long as they are located in a rural area.
The applicant organization must be located in a non-metropolitan county or in a rural census tract of a metropolitan county with all services be provided in a non-metropolitan county or rural census tract.
