IHS Seeks Telehealth Proposals

The Indian Health Service (IHS) www.ihs.gov issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on May 5, 2016 to provide telehealth services at seven hospitals and many health centers and other facilities throughout Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. IHS wants to expand telehealth services to strengthen access to care at IHS facilities in the 19 Great Plains Area www.ihs.gov/greatplains.

The funding will support emergency medical services at the seven Great Plains hospitals as well as appointments with specialists in behavioral health, cardiology, maternal and child health, nephrology, pain management, pediatric behavioral health, rheumatology, wound care, ear, nose and throat care, and dermatology.

The IHS participates in the South Dakota Health Care Solutions a partnership between South Dakota Tribes, IHS, Medicaid service providers, South Dakota legislators and State agencies has recommended the increased use of telehealth services to support emergency departments and to support increased access to primary and specialty care consultation and treatment in IHS and Tribal Programs.
