DHA Helping Vendors

The “2015 DHA Procurement Forecast” document is coming soon to help the business community look at upcoming procurement plans from the Defense Health Agency (DHA). The document will be updated periodically as priorities change. The forecast document will include proposed contracting opportunities as DHA lists them on the Federal Business Opportunities www.fbo.gov website.

Also, there is information available on doing business with the DHA Office of Small Business http://health.mil/Military-Health-Topics/Acquisition-Procurement_and_Small-Business. For example, DHA buys in several categories to include managed care support, dental support, information management/information technology, program management support, and administrative and resource management support.

The DHA suggests some marketing tips:

  • Know your market niche and prepare a one-page capability statement as a way to introduce your company
  • Provide high quality products and/or services that have a successful track record and will provide the products and services needed
  • Read the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) www.acquisition.gov/?q=browsefar and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFARS) supplement www.acq.osd.mil.dpap/dars/dfarspgi/current. The FAR includes the primary regulations that all federal agencies follow when they purchase products and services while the DFARS supplements FAR
  • Register your company in the System for Award Management (SAM) as all current and potential government vendors are required to register in this database
  • Apply to get on a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule www.gsa.gov/portal/content/197989 which is used by the federal agencies to procure products and services
