The VA awarded Systems Made Simple www.systemsmadesimple.com, a Lockheed Martin www.lockheedmartin.com company, a contract to update and improve the VA system to manage veteran’s medical appointments. The Medical Appointment Scheduling System (MASS) provides scheduling, workflow management, and analytics capabilities to veterans and caregivers.
MASS is going to provide patient-centric and resource-based scheduling for the VA with features that include:
- Managing the appointment lifecycle, from standardized requests for care to collecting and reporting on patient data
- Improving clinical resource management so that there is open access between VA facilities and facilities outside of the VA. It will then be possible to view available enterprise resources and coordinate requests
- Displaying real-time supply, demand, quality, and resource utilization of metrics to use to better manage patient care
