HHS Awards Contract

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) is responsible for the development of the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL). The ONC CHPL is an online production system operating 24/7 and is the official source for all Certified EHR Technology under the ONC HIT Certification Program.

The ONC CHPL initially designed and built in 2010 is the sole authoritative and comprehensive listing of complete EHRs and EHR modules that that have been tested and certified under the ONC EHR Certification Program.

CMS relies on the systems as an integral part of their EHR incentive program as well as all of the 50 states who use the ONC CHPL for state EHR incentive programs. The ONC CHPL is the vehicle by which the CMS EHR Certification ID is generated and is provided to participants under the EHR Meaningful Use incentive.

Deloitte Consulting, LLP located in Alexandria Virginia on September 30, 2013 was awarded $2,704,673.44 to continue to support the development and maintenance of the CHPL. The contract to Deloitte will enable ONC to continue to build and maintain the software including code development, programming support, and bug fixes.

Web page redesign, configuration, customization, user interface design and development, along with usability testing are some of the additional features that this contract will support. Other contract requirements include developing mobile platforms to serve as an alternate means of interaction with CHPL data, developing a more robust quality assurance process, developing a data repository of historical data to store data from the 2011 certification program, and to improve access to current data to provide more customized reporting.
