Business Plan for FirstNet

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) an independent entity within the Department of Commerce’s NTIA, has developed a business plan for FY 14. FirstNet has also adopted a $194 million budget to support plans and priorities to develop the nationwide broadband network dedicated to public safety. FirstNet will be built using LTE, the most advanced wireless technology available today.

The objectives for the 2014 business plan are to continue to build the foundational elements of the organization and network infrastructure, develop productive relationships with public safety and government stakeholders, develop an RFP that will prioritize the development of effective partnerships, provide for outreach and data collection, provide adequate resources to fully coordinate with BTOP grantees, and work with local governments and federal agencies to develop innovative technologies and research.
