Transporting COVID Patients Safely
Air Force personnel at the Scott Air Force Base achieved their first aeromedical evacuation utilizing the Negatively Pressurized Conex (NPC) their latest isolated containment chamber. The Air Force personnel moved 12 patients from the U.S. Central Command to Ramstein Air Base to obtain a higher level of care at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. (more…)
Using Tech & AI to Combat the Virus
Radiologists at University Hospitals (UH), Cleveland Medical Center, https://uhhospitals.org read dozens of images every day. The process takes several hours. GE Healthcare’s https://gehealthcare.com (GEHC) Critical Care Suite software acts as AI on board the AMX 240 mobile x-ray unit. Once a chest x-ray is taken, the mobile x-ray unit recognizes if a patient has a collapsed lung and flags the image for immediate reading to help the patient on the rapid path to treatment. (more…)
NIH Plans for Diagnostic Technologies
The July 2020 NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for COVID-19 Research supports research to develop and validate new diagnostic technologies. Last April, to address the need for better diagnostics, NIH launched the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) initiative to speed innovation in COVID-19 testing technologies. (more…)
EHRs Help Manage Substance Abuse
