SOC Telemed Expands Partnership

SOC Telemed https://www.soctelemed.com, recently announced an expansion of their partnership with UnityPoint Health https://www.unitypoint.org, from three hospitals to an additional four hospitals across two markets to increase access to behavioral health specialists.

Since success has been achieved over the past three years working together, SOC Telemed and UnityPoint Health are expanding their Tele-Psychiatry services and have added the Telemed IQ telemedicine platform.

SOC Telemed’s relationship with UnityPoint Health began in 2018 at Allen Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital located in Waterloo Iowa. The facility implemented Telemed IQ to drive their Tele-Psychiatry services. The results show improved psychiatric care, including reduced length of stay, improved throughput in the emergency department, and a substantial ROI for the hospital.

SOC now provides psychiatrists to four additional hospitals. The hospitals in Des Moines, Iowa include Iowa Methodist Medical, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital in Cedar Rapids along with St. Luke’s Hospital.

The SOC Telemed and Allen Hospital partnership has shown that the average length of stay for mental health patients has fallen by 1187 hours, Allen Hospital has avoided more than $1.7 million in annualized boarding costs, and implementation of the SOC Telemed enterprise telemedicine solution has resulted in an annual ROI of 281%
