DHCS Program Seeks Applicants

USDA’s Acting State Director Dan Beasley announced that USDA’s Rural Business-and Cooperative Services is accepting applications for grants to improve healthcare in the Delta region. 

USDA is making up to $3 million in grants available for FY 2021 through the Delta Health Care Services Grant Program. The minimum grant award is $50,000 and the maximum award is for $1 million.

Completed applications need to be submitted by or on July 19, 2021. The notice appeared in the May 20, 2021, Federal Register and the funding notice was posted on https://www.grants.govDelta region.

The Delta Health Care Services Grant program provides financial assistance to address the continued unmet health needs in the Delta Region. The funding may be used to support activities such as health education programs, healthcare services, job training in healthcare fields, and to develop or expand public health facilities.

The applications may also support programs and services needed to care for substance use disorders including opioid misuse in high risk rural communities in order to address prevention, treatment, and/or recovery. 

Eligible applicants can be a consortium/group of three or more entities that are Regional Institutions of Higher Education, Academic Health and Research Institutes, and/or Economic Development Entities. The consortium must be located in the Delta Region and must have at least one year of prior experience in addressing the healthcare needs in the Delta Region.
