MD Anderson Signs Agreement

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center https://www.mdanderson.org is advancing capabilities to seamlessly connect basic science and translational and clinical research data to help patients.

The new agreement and collaboration with Syntropy https://www.syntrophy.com and the Foundry platform will enable users to work meaningfully with data and grow capabilities in data science.

According to David Jaffray PhD, MD Anderson’s Chief Technology and Digital Officer, “Our ongoing focus on the use of new technologies is to place quantitative data in context for our researchers, foster cutting-edge oncology data science to use to research cancer, and then accelerate our research findings to benefit cancer patients. We are on the verge of a new era where technology collaborations are aligning so the potential to accelerate progress is unimaginable.”

Recognizing an urgent need to rapidly address research questions at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, MD Anderson enabled their researchers to leverage the Foundry platform. The goal is to generate insights from a common, curated, readily available source of aggregated COVID-19 data for cancer patients.

Through ongoing education and implementation efforts, MD Anderson will be conducting a strategic and systematic rollout to additional researchers on the platform to expand access throughout the institution.

Also, additional opportunities exist to explore secure data collaborations with other academic and industry partners. MD Anderson has submitted grant proposals using Foundry as an enabling platform for collaboration.
