USDA DLT Funds Grants

USDA https://www.usda.gov is investing $42.3 million to fund 86 projects through the USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) grant program.

The DLT program helps rural education and healthcare entities remotely reach students and patients to enable healthcare opportunities and the use of  telehealth to be accessible in rural communities.

Examples of grant funding recipients includes:

  • University of Alabama to connect 23 ambulances and 7 hospitals with equipment to provide telemedicine services. ($916,948)
  • Boston Mountain Rural Health Center in Ark & Tennessee to improve the data center at the hub site to make it a reliable platform for a telemedicine system. ($602,640)
  • The Moorhouse School of Medicine to purchase interactive telecommunication distance learning and telemedicine equipment to be installed in two counties in Georgia ($997,194)
  • The Delta Regional Medical Center will use the funding to connect rural patients with remote providers at 15 sites in Mississippi ($995,958)
  • SSM Health Care in St. Louis will use the funding to establish a telemedicine network linking SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital with rural clinics ($665,000)
  • The Missouri Heartland Regional Medical Center will use the funding to expand telemedicine capabilities ($902,629)
  • The North County Hospital Health Center in Vermont will use the funding to expand capacity through their patient monitoring systems and telehealth carts ($953,314)
