Health care providers are challenged with navigating the huge amount of emerging COVID-19 information. The Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) https://www.health.mil new Antimicrobial Stewardship mobile app https://mobile.health.mil/asp expedites access to information at the Point-of-Care (POC).
DHA collaborated on the app with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Working Group, Solutions Delivery Division, and the Connected Health Branch at DHA. So far, over a one month period, the app has been used by over 1,300 providers with an average session lasting over 5 minutes.
According to Dr. Twee Sim with the DHA Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, “The app is the perfect platform to ensure our healthcare providers receive the most up to date information at the POC, which is particularly true during the current pandemic.”
The app’s contents include general prescribing guidelines for common infectious diseases by condition and organisms, access to facility-specific antibiograms, and useful tools such as clinical calculators, knowledge bases, and national organization guidelines.
The information included within the app has been reviewed by DHA infectious diseases providers and which gives recommendations based on nationally recognized organizations such as the Infectious Diseases Society of America, CDC, NIH, and is included in the DOD COVID-19 Practice Management Guide.
