Grants for Community Health Centers

BD https://bd.com/en-us, a global medical technology company along with the BD Foundation https://bdfoundation.com, a BD chartable affiliate, have committed $7.8 million in grants and product donations for the next three years.

The funding will support the BD Helping Build Healthy Communities initiative, a public private partnership implemented jointly by Direct Relief https://directrelief.org/work/bdhbhc, and NACHC https://www.nscho.org.

The BD Helping Build Healthy Communities initiative provides grants to community health centers to implement innovative and successful approaches for quality healthcare to underserved populations.

BD has invested nearly $15.7 million in cash and product donations to this initiative since 2013. This newest financial commitment from BD and the BD Foundation brings the total combined investment to $22.6 million through the year 2022.

So far, the health centers have used the funding to develop and expand new models to identify and assist vulnerable people and to manage complex chronic diseases from diabetes to hypertension to opioid prevention and treatment.

In addition, BD, BD Foundation, Direct Relief, and NACHC have invited health centers to apply for the initiative’s next round of grant funding. The awards will be used to develop innovative approaches to deliver Medication Therapy Management  (MTM) services to enable better chronic disease management among patients who are facing additional challenges and constraints due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Help for community health centers is being provided by HRSA. The agency has announced that over $117 million in quality improvement awards will go to 1,318 health centers across the states, territories, and D.C. HRSA-funded health centers will use the funds to strengthen quality improvement activities and expand the delivery of quality primary healthcare.
