CDC posted a forecast for a Funding Opportunity Notice on February 3, 2020 on https://www.grants.gov that funds will be available for FY 2020 to implement their “Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS): Impact in Population Health”.
The BRFSS is the nation’s system used to do health related telephone surveys to collect state data about U.S residents, Data is collected on health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and the use of preventive services. BRFSS completes more than 400,000 adult interviews each year, making it the largest continuously conducted health survey system in the world.
The purpose of the Funding Opportunity Notice is to provide financial and technical assistance to recipients to conduct health-related behavioral surveillance through BRFSS and increase the use of BRFSS data to inform public health actions to improve health. The FOA is scheduled to be posted March 30, 2020 with estimated total program funding to be $66,000,000.
Eligible applicants can include state and county governments, nonprofits, for profit organizations, small businesses, public and state controlled institutes of higher learning, and Native American tribal organizations.
