HRSA’s https://www.hrsa.gov “Telehealth Focused Rural Health Research Center” (TF-RHRC) Program is looking for applicants to apply for funding (HRSA-20-023).
The purpose of the program is to conduct and maintain a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of nationwide telehealth investments in rural areas and populations. In addition, the goal is to conduct clinically informed and policy relevant research to expand the evidence base for rural telehealth services.
Two TF-RHRCs will be funded to include one evaluation-focused and the other evidence-focused. The purpose for the evaluation-focused TF RHRC is to evaluate nationwide telehealth investments in rural areas. The evaluation will include an assessment of access, cost, experience, and the effectiveness for patients and providers.
The evidence-focused TF-RHRC is to conduct clinically informed and policy relevant health services research to expand the evidence base for rural telehealth services. This research will include research to evaluate the TF RHRC. The research may also assess the comparative effectiveness of specific telehealth services relative to in-person services in the same clinical area. The research will also examine the impact of healthcare policies related to telehealth plus analyze the cost effectiveness of telehealth.
The deadline to apply is 5/1/2020 with the estimated project start date to be 9/1/2020. Estimated total program funding is $1,900,000 with an award ceiling of $950,000 per year.
