Rite Aid Using NarxCare Effectively

Rite Aid https://www.riteaid.com recently announced a partnership with Appriss Health https://apprisshealth.com to use the NarxCare platform to aggregate and analyze prescription information from providers and pharmacies.

The platform presents complex risk scores and other information when dealing with Substance Use Disorders (SUD). So far, Rite Aid has implemented NarxCare in 12 states which includes all Rite Aids in Pennsylvania.

NarxCare utilizes, analyzes, and presents information from State Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP). This enables pharmacists to more efficiently and effectively identify and manage patients at risk for Controlled Substance Misuse and Abuse.

With NarxCare in place, pharmacists are able to identify potential problems up front in real time for every customer obtaining a controlled substance and then engages with the customer to determine the best course of action for the customer to take.

The identification of patients at risk for substance abuse is important to help providers and pharmacists make better informed decisions to enable earlier interventions, and achieve better patient outcomes.

“At Rite Aid, patient safety and compliance are important priorities,” said Rob Cohen, President, of Appriss Health. “We applaud Rite Aid’s efforts to rapidly deploy technologies to help reduce potential customer risk by leveraging the state PDMPs by utilizing an advanced analytics platform and then integrating the solutions seamlessly into the pharmacists’ daily workflow.”
