Lab To Showcase Technology

Smart Health Innovation Lab https://smarthealthinnovationlab.com, a market adoption accelerator for healthcare technologies located in Pennsylvania, opened their first state-of-the-art facility to showcase the innovative technologies that the lab plans to market by establishing a 12 week certification program.

The Lab was developed collaboratively by Aspire Ventures https://aspirevc.com, Capital BlueCross https://www.capbluecrosss.com, Clio Health https://cliohealth.aspirevc.com, and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health https://www.lancastergeneralhealth.org/LGH, This collaborative effort is working to advance cutting edge technology starting with inaugural efforts to focus on pain management and mental health.

The lab has attracted interest from top tier healthcare technology startups from across the U.S and abroad. After evaluating more than 30 finalists, two companies were chosen for the class of 2018 to include Emovi https://emovi.ca/en and Neuroflow https://www.neuroflowsolution.com.

Emovi located in Canada, is an early stage medical device company that has developed a new knee care system called “KneeKG”. This device enables doctors for the first time to accurately assess patients’ knees in 3-D while the patient is moving.

In contrast to information from x-rays and MRIs, the device quickly identifies the functional causes linked to knee pain. Functional information is given to doctors with a higher correlation to symptoms and at a fraction of the cost of high tech scans.

The other company NeuroFlow located in Philadelphia, a mental health technology company co-founded by a military veteran, uses the NeuroFlow platform to provide a data driven approach to brain health.

The NeuroFlow platform lets providers assign mental health exercises while encouraging patients to complete the exercises with automated reminders and rewards for adherence. The platform leverages real time physiological data from wireless EEG and HRV sensors to measure relaxation and stress levels during specific exercises.

Both companies will work onsite at the Smart Health Innovation Lab in a variety of simulated care environments. These areas will include a hospital room, physical therapy gym, clinician’s office, self-service kiosk, and home setting to demonstrate the efficacy of their technologies. Upon successfully completing the 12 week program, the company’s technologies will receive Smart Health Certification and entry into partnering health systems,
