On March 16, 2018, CDC www.cdc.gov posted the forecasted Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) (CDC-RFA-GH19-1943) titled “Implementing Sustainable and Integrated Health Information Exchange (HIE) System in the Republic of Rwanda.”
The forecasted funding notice for $820,000 provided under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is expected to be posted July 31, 2018. The estimated due date for the application is September 29, 2018 with the project is expected to be awarded December 2018.
The NOFO emphasizes the need for an Electronic Information Exchange System in Rwanda to support the Rwanda Ministry of Health. The project will support the Ministry of Health in collecting, sharing, and analyzing data to meet the challenges of an effective HIV response.
The awardee is expected to focus on high priority geographical, programmatic, and technical areas. The proposed activities will include improving electronic data exchange, promoting a shared medical record, and integrating patient identifiers.
The funding is going to support electronic systems for new HIV initiatives. An example would be the development of the “Differentiated Service Delivery Model and Case-based Surveillance System” to be complete with capabilities to improve targeted testing, treatment delivery, and data availability.
