According to GlobalMed® www.globalmed.com based in Scottsdale Arizona, the company saw revenues increase 300 percent in the second half of 2016, thanks to organic growth of new customers and a deepening reach with their existing clients. The company’s deployments in the U.S and in 55 foreign countries continues to smash records with more than 3.5 million annual telemedicine consults.
CEO and Founder Joel D. Barthelemy said, “The increase in orders for the company has occurred since clinicians and hospital executives want proven technologies that enhance patient workflow—not hinder it.”
GlobalMed’s COO E. Patrick LaVoie reports that while production schedules have tighten due to increased demand, the company continues develop new products, software, and services that the company plans to introduce in 2017.
To further enhance the development of the telemedicine industry, the company just announced that it has acquired ORCAS www.orcasinc.com, a research and development company in the health technology space. As a result of the acquisition, the Eugene, Oregon-based company will become a wholly owned subsidiary of GlobalMed.
ORCAS has a long history of blending expertise in behavior change science and the mobile user experience to create innovative software applications to enable patients to manage their own health
By joining forces with ORCAS, GlobalMed will significantly expand its R&D division which focuses on advancing health technology to find solutions to customer problems and to ensure scientific validity across all the company’s products.
Another interesting aspect to this acquisition is that from 1989 to 2016, ORCAS received over $65 million in grants from the NIH’s SBIR program. Expertise and experience is going to be provided by ORCAS related to grants administration and execution and is going to enable GlobalMed to create a grant division. This grant division will offer assistance to customers who wish to pursue public or private grant funding for special projects or new initiatives.
GlobalMed will be exhibiting at HIMSS 2017 www.himssconference.org to be held in Orlando in Booth #4475 from February 19-23.
