DTRA Issuing Sole Source Contract

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA www.dtra.mil on December 22, 2016 posted a Notice with the intent to negotiate and award a sole source firm-fixed contract to the “National Academies of Sciences for Enhancing Global Health Security through International Biosecurity and Health Engagement Programs.”

A study committee will be funded under the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine www.nas.edu together with additional countries. The National Academies will conduct an independent examination of international health security missions, programs, and organizations funded to improve health security. The goal is to promote biosafety, biosecurity, disease surveillance, health security, and bio risk management with foreign partner countries.

The study committee will address the principles needed to guide successful programs, steps to take to ensure that Global Health Security programs continue to prioritize biosafety and biosecurity over the next five years, and discuss how data can be integrated to make it easier to make budget priorities match policy priorities.

In addition, the study committee will articulate a five year strategic vision for global health security and provide findings and recommendations. The period of performance is approximately 12 months. DTRA anticipates the total price for this effort will not exceed $500,000.
