Army Orders Improved Laptops

The Army’s Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) www.mc4.army.mil program provides the tools needed to digitally record and transfer critical medical data from the foxhole to medical treatment facilities around the world.

MC4 has just placed a new order for 3,750 new S410 Getac http://us.getac.com semi-ruggedized laptops. The notebook computers will be used to help to digitally capture medical treatment data in operational environments and provide a comprehensive lifelong EHR for services members.

The laptops will provide faster processing, improve daylight viewing, provide better security and durability, plus provide significantly more computing power, according to MC4 experts. About 85 percent of the new power will be applied to patient care and 15 percent to medical supply ordering and inventory.

As the provider of the Army’s only deployable capability to document patient care, the MC4 product development office also provides necessary on-site assistance due to various in-country network requirements, deals with the unique challenges that occur when integrating complex software packages, and finds ways to safeguard equipment from harsh theater environments.
