Partnership Boosts Telehealth

Marshfield Clinic Health System www.marshfieldclinic.org/health-system operating three hospitals and plus 50 clinics in Wisconsin and American Well www.americanwell.com, a national telehealth technology company, are collaborating to offer virtual doctor visits to communities served by MCHS clinics and hospitals.

American Well partners with health plans, health systems, and employers to deliver on-demand and scheduled doctor visits to their networks. The company’s full service telehealth platform includes smartphones, traditional phone calls, web communication, and kiosk-based care delivery.

MCHS is looking for VirtualHealth Now® operating on the American Well telemedicine platform, to offer patients a more convenient way to access care. VirtualHealth Now is expected to launch February 2017.

MCHS with 700 providers will use VirtualHealth Now with their Care My Way hotline. Nurse practitioners will be able to provide patients with a quick diagnosis and treatments for a number of health issues. When the telehealth service is rolled out, it will move quickly across the health system and expand to primary and specialty care plus be used for intra office consults.

The system will enable patients especially in rural areas to use telemedicine to help in medication counseling, be able to deliver obesity counseling to at-risk youths, and also work with the diabetic population to accurately monitor blood sugar.
