American Well Signs Agreements

American Well www.americanwell.com, a telehealth company has just announced an industry-led collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) to make it possible to do online visits through NYP’s OnDemand www.nyp.org/ondemmand system to patients from their home.

NYP OnDemand was developed by NYP’s Innovation Center www.innovateny.org to enhance care delivery. The suite of online services includes providing second opinions, emergency or urgent care visits, provider-to-provider consultations, and virtual follow-up visits.

NYP OnDemand is unique in that the visits for digital urgent care and follow-up visits are now an integrated part of the NYP digital experience. Comparable online visit services require that patients download a separate app or see an unaffiliated doctor.

For the first time, via digital, mobile, or web, patients are able to connect virtually with NYP’s expert physician network that includes ColumbiaDoctors www.columbiadoctors.org Weill Cornell Medicine’s Physician Organization http://weillcornell.org, and NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups www.nyp.or/medicalgroups .

NewYork-Presbyterian is the first health system to leverage American Well’s telehealth mobile Software Development Kit (SDK) www.americanwell.com/telemedicine-sdk. NYP OnDemand Digital Urgent Care and Virtual Visits are now available to patients in the New York City area both through the NYP mobile app on iOS, http://mobileapp.nyp.org as well as on the desktop.

It was also recently announced that Cerner www.cerner.com, has signed a telehealth agreement to integrate American Well’s platform with Cerner’s EHR to deliver a virtual healthcare experience. The integrated EHR-telehealth solution will be available to current and future Cerner and American Well clients.

Patients will interact with the solution through Cerner’s “HealtheLife” patient portal which provides access to health information, provider messaging, and enables broad interaction with care teams.
