NIH www.nih.gov posted a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) (PA-17-009) notice October 18, 2016 titled “Use of Technology to Enhance Patient Outcomes and Prevent Illness” The closing date for applications is January 07, 2020 with an award ceiling of $200,000.
This FOA seeks clinical research to develop technologies to help address patient outcomes. Relevant areas of technology include remote healthcare delivery to patients via telehealth, robotics to enhance medication adherence, on-site care delivery, mobile health to increase access and adherence, web-based decision support tools, and others.
Research projects may focus on assessment, diagnosis, intervention development, or implementation. Research projects are especially welcomed that incorporate emerging and cutting edge technologies to explain and predict patient trajectories.
Also technologies that support real-time clinical decision-making, and facilitate effective long term management of chronic illness are especially needed. The specific tools or interventions proposed should clearly indicate how they will enhance patient benefits in environments such as in clinical settings and/or in the home and community,
Eligible applicants include for-profit organizations, state, county, city governments, public and state universities, nonprofits, and small businesses.
