Support for Virtual Medical Center

On May 10th the Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation, along with the Assistant Program Manager for Medical Simulations, and the Veterans Health Administration Team, issued a questionnaire so that firms and companies could indicate their interest and capability to establish a Virtual Medical Center (VMC). Capabilities statements were to be submitted by May 15th. The questionnaire released on www.fbo.gov was not a pre-solicitation notice. After the comments are reviewed, a formal solicitation or RFP may become available incorporating some of the ideas on www.fbo.gov at a later date.

The information released May 10th described how the Army and the VA want to establish a VMC that would house a virtual training evaluation system for the Veterans Health Administration’s Simulation Learning, Education, and Research Network (SimLEARN) Program.

The VMC will be a continuously available virtual environment accessible to clinical personnel, veterans, and their family members. Veteran patients will have access to validated medical materials and resources to obtain information in healthcare.

The VMC will feature virtual clinics that focus on general health, specific medical conditions, disease management, and well-being. Every area within the VMC will provide services and information including patient and provider meeting and collaboration areas, one-on-one encounters, group appointments, virtual medical advisors, online pharmacy information sources, wellness information, and self-help tools.

The Request for Information (W900KK13R1TBD) to develop the VMC was posted May 10, 2013 on www.fbo.gov.
