Avera eCare in Rural Areas

Avera eCARE www.AveraeCARE.org a robust telemedicine network serving rural health care, now reaches one million telehealth patients. The eCARE network now serves 263 hospitals, clinics, long-term care centers, correctional facilities, and schools within 12 states by using video and computer monitoring equipment.

Avera eCARE’s growing line of services includes eEmergency, ePharmacy, eICU CARE, eConsult, eLongTermCare, eCorrectional Health and most recently eSchool Health. Avera continues to establish new collaborations with medical institutions in different regions of the country.

Collaborations have been established with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center www.dartmouth-hitchock.org in Lebanon New Hampshire to provide eEmergency services to seven sites with plans for expansion. The medical center is also partnering with the Geisel School of Medicine of Dartmouth College

Avera eCARE has also recently contracted with the University of Kansas Hospital www.kumed.com and Hays Medical Center www.haysmed.com to help them fulfill provisions with funding from a $12.5 million CMS Innovation grant https://innovation.cms.gov. This collaboration will reach up to 30 sites with eEmergency.

In addition, Avera eCARE collaborates with other large health systems such as Regions Hospital Burn Center www.regionshospital.com in ST. Paul Minnesota, Allina Health www.allinahealth.org in Minneapolis, Emerus Health System www.emerus.com, and Catholic Health Initiatives www.catholichealthinitiatives.org. .

Avera eCARE receives funding from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to help in rural locations. In total, grant funding of more than $80 million has been awarded to eCARE projects either directly to Avera or to the rural sites.
