Improving Home Dialysis Care

Baxter International www.baxter.com and Satellite Healthcare www.satellitehealth.com signed an agreement to provide patients with the latest advancements in peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy.

Baxter’s AMIA Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD) system along with SHARESOURCE is going to help more patients manage dialysis therapy at home. The system’s patient-centric features include voice guidance, a touchscreen control panel, plus SHARESOURCE which is Baxter’s cloud-based telemedicine platform.

Clinicians can use SHARESOURCE to securely and remotely manage their home dialysis patients. The system provides clinicians with on-demand access to dialysis-related treatment data, which is automatically collected after each Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) session and then is able to remotely adjust the program for the device.

Under the four year agreement, Satellite Healthcare plans to integrate REVACLEAR into its high-flux hemodialysis therapy. REVACLEAR is a high flux dialyzer containing a three layer polyarylethersulfone membrane.

Satellite Healthcare plans to offer its high flux hemodialysis therapy at their 80 Satellite dialysis and Satellite WellBound home dialysis centers. These centers serve more than 7,000 patients nationwide.

Satellite Healthcare launched Re-Imagine Home, a long term initiative to change the landscape of home dialysis with the design of an industry-leading home dialysis model. The goal through Re-Imagine Home is to double Satellite Healthcare’s home dialysis usage from 20 percent to 40 percent of the patient population.
