On April 19, 2016, CMS www.cms.gov issued a grant notice “Grants to Support the Hispanic Health Services Research Grant Program” www.grants.gov/custom/printSynopsisDetails.jsp (CMS-1H0-16001). CMS is making $430,000 in two awards to help meet the needs of diverse CMS beneficiary populations. The closing date for applying is June 29, 2016.
The grant program is designed to encourage health service and health disparities researchers to study issues which impact Hispanic Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and other health services issues.
The goal is to conduct research on issues affecting Hispanic communities, support extramural research in healthcare for Hispanic communities, and promote research to foster a network for communication and collaboration regarding Hispanic healthcare issues.
Eligible applicants can qualify if the applicant is involved in health services disparities research at a university or college offering a PhD or Master’s Degree Program in one or more qualifying disciplines, a member of a community-based health organization with a Hispanic health services research component, or a member of a professional association focusing on Hispanic health services and health disparities issues.
