SAMHSA Funding National Network

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) www.samhsa.gov within HHS is accepting applications for FY 2016 for up to $30 million to provide grant funding for a National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS). The anticipated total funding for the Funding Opportunity Announcement (SM-16-003) is $6,000,000 for one award for a project estimated to last five years.

The purpose of the NCCTS is to develop and maintain a collaborative network structure, support resource and policy development and dissemination, and to coordinate the network’s national child trauma education and training efforts.

The NCCTS program addresses behavioral health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities by encouraging the use of strategies to decrease the differences in access, service use, and outcomes among the racial and ethnic minority populations served.

Children of deployed military personnel have more school, family, and peer-related emotional difficulties in comparison to national samples. SAMHSA therefore has identified military families as a priority population under this funding opportunity.

NCCTS program will develop and maintain the collaborative network structure, support resource development and dissemination, and coordinate national child trauma education and training efforts.

Eligible applicants can be from state and local government federally recognized Ameri8can Indian/Alaska Native tribes, urban Indian organizations, public or private universities and colleges, and community and faith-based organizations.
