Unmanned vehicles, intelligent buildings, cell phones, and fitness bracelets are considered Cyber-Physical Systems. On September 18th, the NIST Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Public Working Group released a draft CPS document titled “Framework for Cyber-Physical Systems” http://cpspwg.org.
The Framework is intended to provide a comprehensive science and engineering foundation for the design, production, and assessment of complex cyber-physical systems to help manufacturers create new CPS that will work seamlessly with other smart systems capable of bridging the physical and computational worlds.
NIST is requesting public comments on the draft Framework which was developed in partnership with industry, academia, along with government experts in the CPS Public Working Group. Send comments to draftCPSFrameworkComments@cpspwg.org by November 2, 2015.
The second document the “Federal Health IT Strategic Plan 2015-2020” prepared by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology http://healthit.gov expresses thoughts from all of the federal offices required to deal with health IT.
The overall goals are to advance person-centered and self-managed health, transform healthcare delivery and community health, foster research, scientific knowledge, and innovation, plus very importantly finalize and implement the Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap.
Other objectives are to protect the privacy and security of health information, identify, prioritize and advance technical standards, increase user and market confidence in the safety and use of health IT products, systems, and services, and advance a national communications infrastructure to support health, safety, and care delivery.
