WEDI & NATE Announce Partnership

The “Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange” (WEDI) www.wedi.org a large nonprofit authority and the “National Association for Trusted Exchange” (NATE), http://nate-trust.org a nonprofit authority in consumer-mediated electronic health information exchange are going to work together.

WEDI’s mission is to provide leadership and guidance on how to use and leverage the industry’s collective knowledge, expertise and information resources to improve the quality, affordability, and availability of healthcare.

NATE brings the expertise of its membership and other stakeholders together to find common solutions to optimize the appropriate exchange of health information for greater gains in adoption and outcomes.

The partnership between WEDI and NATE will cooperate on Phase II of the Virtual Clipboard Initiative to advance research on interoperability. Researchers will work to create a solution blueprint for a smart mobile solution that will enable the provider’s clipboard containing information on allergies, medications, and lab results to electronically disseminate this information to the provider.

The Virtual Clipboard Initiative was developed by the Sullivan Institute for Healthcare Innovation www.sullivaninstitute.org in collaboration with WEDI, HIMSS and the Medical Group Management Association.

Several workgroups have been formed to work on the project to include pilot design and adoption, technical solutions, privacy and security, and measuring success. The Sullivan Institute for Health Care Innovation’s Patient Experience Council will also be involved with each workgroup.
