Medtronic www.medtronic.com has signed an agreement with Glooko a leader in diabetes data unification and analytics to greatly improve access to meaningful diabetes health data. The partnership will incorporate information from Medtronic insulin pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) into Glooko’s cloud and mobile-based diabetes management platform.
In addition, Medtronic will integrate other health and wellness data sources such as food, medication, fitness, and biometric data into their CareLink platform and people with diabetes and will be able to access this information through Glooko. This will help to provide additional insights to help patients and provider improve diabetes management.
In another move, Glooko www.glooko.com is partnering with Dexcom Inc. http://dexcom.com developer of a Continuous Glucose Monitoring CGM) system and with Insulet Corporation, with their insulin OmniPod www.myomnipod.com pump data. This partnership will now enable Glooko to unify all diabetes relevant device data into a single unified platform to help improve health outcomes.
The data from both systems is going to be united into Glooko’s platform that already syncs data from more than 40 blood glucose monitors plus fitness and biometric tools available via Apple or Android mobile devices.
The CGM data and the OmniPod’s pump data is structured for patients and their providers in a simple to interpret view in both the Glooko mobile app and via Glooko’s Population tracker™. Providers will then be able to work with at-risk patients before costly intervention and hospitalizations occur by analyzing the diabetes data to improve treatment plans.
